Where to stay near Kazimierz Dolny: Łubinowe Wzgórze Eko Resort

While I was looking for a place to stay in Kazimierz Dolny, I ran across Łubinowe Wzgórze Eko Resort and I immediately knew that it was the perfect choice for us  a cozy guest house surrounded by Polish forests, fields and meadows, with natural SPA and a restaurant on site, was exactly what we needed for an unwinding couple of days.

Łubinowe Wzgórze, which literally means “Lupine Hill”, is located in a village called Łąki, within picturesque area of the Nałęczowski Plateau, away from busy roads and crowds of tourists that Kazimierz Dolny is known for, especially in high season. It’s worth noting that the beautiful Old Town of Lublin is only half an hour drive away from the resort whereas Nałęczów, a spa town famous for its healing waters, can be reached even by foot  a walking path starts right in the garden!

Sadly, we didn’t have much luck with the weather during our stay at Łubinowe Wzgórze in October but the resort is perfectly prepared for rainy days  there’s a library on site with audiobooks, movies and fun board games as well as two cozy orangeries  lovely spots for some relaxation with a glass of red wine in one hand and a book in the other. There’s a spa area for beauty treatments, aromatic massages and natural therapies, including hay baths. What’s more, it’s possible to rent a separate wooden house with sauna  banya  where various relaxing treatments and body rituals can be performed. Sitting in a comfortable armchair, in fluffy white robe sipping hot tea is even more pleasurable when it’s raining outside, isn’t it?

Guests can also enjoy a spacious lush garden with flowers, plants, fresh growing herbs and autumn-coloured bushes and trees, and with hammocks and sunbeds available during warm months. There’s also a place for campfire and a lot of attractions and facilities for kids: a playground, outdoor games, bicycles to rent and even a baby-sitter upon request just to name a few.

Our room was called “Marzenie” (“Dream”) and was located in Kamienny Domek (“Stone House”). It was comfortable, spacious and bright with its high ceiling covered with light-coloured wood and big windows overlooking the garden and forest-coated hills. It featured two comfortable beds, a TV and minimalistic design furniture made of natural materials as well as a couple of stronger colour accents such as emerald armchair and soft pillows. Mineral water, electric kettle and mugs were available in the room, which I always find very helpful!

Breakfast buffet at Łubinowe Wzgórze is served between 8 and 10 and is incredibly varied. I was honestly surprised how vast the choice was considering it’s such a small resort! I especially enjoyed freshly-baked bread, farmhouse cheese, home-smoked fish and meats, different kinds of pâtés (especially the vegetarian one made of zucchini  delicious!), warm vegetables and homemade marmalades.

The restaurant, “Kuchnia Smaków”, is run by chef Piotr Wiedro who specializes in Polish and regional cuisine. The food is freshly cooked and genuinely healthy  there are vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, lactose-free or sugar-free options available. Many of the dishes contain different kinds of groats known for its healthy benefits as well as vegetables and herbs from the restaurant’s garden. The rustic and cozy candle-lit interior with a fireplace and soft Polish music in the speakers is a great place to enjoy good local wine or home-made liqueurs in the evenings. The staff is very attentive, always smiling and makes an effort to remember guests’ likes and habits.

Even though it’s been raining for most of our stay, we spent three relaxing days in a beautiful place surrounded by nature and silence. Clean air, forests and meadows, wonderful garden, tasty food, cozy interiors and hospitable staff made it an unforgettable stay. It's clear that the owner has put her heart and soul into this place. In the summer Łubinowe Wzgórze must be even lovelier  outdoor massages, hammocks in the shadow, long walks and bike trips through Polish picturesque countryside. Sometimes... what else do you need, really? :)

  1. I am glad that I finally got a chance to check out this place. Great views, food is nice. The quality of service at rental spaces for parties was great, and the environment were pretty comfortable. I’ll say I will look forward to visit again.
