Where to stay in Lisbon: Imperium Lisbon Village

A couple of years ago I fell in love with Lisbon at first sight. The architecture, the food, the light, the people  it’s definitely my favourite European capital! I’ve visited it a couple of times already but have usually stayed either at boutique hotels or beautiful hostels. This time I decided to try something new – a stylish self-catering apartment at Imperium Lisbon Village.

It’s located in the Campo de Ourique neighbourhood, which is not a part of the historic center of Lisbon but the closest metro station, Rato, is just a few minutes' walk away. From there I could easily reach all the most important parts of the city. Since I like to stroll, I also took a longer walk for some evening drinks in Bairro Alto, and in just about twenty-five minutes I reached my favourite bar.

Imperium Lisbon Village offers a couple of rooms as well as self-catering apartments with free wi-fi and fully equipped kitchen. Our studio, Basílica da Estrela, had an oven, a microwave, a coffee machine, all the necessary kitchen utensils to prepare a quick meal and even an electric orange juicer to enjoy freshly squeezed juice in the morning. The only thing that was missing was an electric kettle, which could be useful for those who also enjoy a cup of tea.

The room was spacious, immaculately clean as well as minimalistically but tastefully decorated with gorgeous elements harmoniously combining with the interior. The bathroom in our apartment could be a bit ampler but it’s totally fine for a short-term stay as ours. All guests can enjoy a charming and peaceful patio with a small fountain and flowers  for some it’s enough to step out of the front door to access it!

One of the biggest advantages of staying at Imperium Lisbon Village was that our room was very quiet both during the day and at night and this is one of the most important things for me when looking for accommodation. Also, a late check-out is a fantastic option (until 1 P.M.!) and the possibility to leave our bags at the reception was very helpful  thanks to that we could conveniently explore more of Lisbon’s wonders on our last day.

I would recommend this place to those who want to have a good night’s rest away from the hustle and bustle of a lively city and who like to enjoy all the conveniences of a private apartment while visiting the lovely Portuguese capital. Imperium Lisbon Village is a sweet hideaway and good value for money.
