Where to stay in Bled: Garden Village Bled

Garden Village Bled is an eco resort located just a short walk from Lake Bled in Slovenia. Its environmentally friendly, innovative design combined with the proximity of breathtaking nature makes it an enchanting spot for a perfect stay.

At Garden Village Bled, there are four types of accommodation: deluxe apartments, wooden tree houses, pier tents and bigger luxurious glamping tents (with an outdoor bathtub, air-conditioning, heating, TV and other luxuries). We’ve opted for a pier tent right above the river and ponds full of trouts swimming in cold, crystal clear water. Nearby, surrounded by abundant plants, there was a pebble beach and a small murmuring waterfall – this is where I enjoyed reading a book in the afternoon in the shadows of high trees.

The pier tents are designed for two people and are super cozy; in each one there is a thick comfy mattress, electric sockets to charge your phone or plug in the lamps, warm quilt and soft blankets. Outside, you’ll find a small fridge, a candle lantern, two deckchairs and a view at green meadows on which, if you’re lucky, you’ll see horses running in the morning. At the resort, you can also rent a bike, enjoy a massage in the treetops, a sauna above the stream or have a refreshing swim in natural infinity pool with a captivating forest view. Brushing your teeth takes place near an outdoor washbasin accompanied by the sound of the waterfall and birds singing.

The resort's restaurant, Vrtnarija, looks like a green house – it’s entirely made of wood and has quite interesting table tops – you can have your dinner or breakfast right on natural growing... grass. It's worth to have a dinner there – Vrtnarija offers creative Slovenian dishes prepared with high quality products, including fresh herbs and vegetables straight from the resort’s garden. You must try excellent beef soup with ravioli and vegetables and lamb with idrijski žlikrofi, traditional dumplings. Add to it an exquisite Slovenian bottle of wine – which you can later finish in a cozy wooden arbour with an open fire – and you have one of the most relaxing stays you can imagine in Slovenia.
