Where to go in Italy: Bergamo

I can't believe I actually had the courage to publish these pictures taken with my compact (!) camera a few years back. It's just that I recently remembered my trip to Bergamo and couldn't resist browsing through these photos and then showing them to you.

Bergamo is not an obvious destination in Italy. Very close to Milan, one of the world's fashion capitals, is often omitted on tourists' agendas. But please hop on that cheap Ryanair flight and head towards this enchanting city and I guarantee you that you will forget about shopping in Milan in an instant. There's a lot to see (and to taste) but two or three days is enough to feel the city's atmosphere.

Where to eat: A bustling restaurant with delicious antipasti and pizza - La Ciotola. So good that we ate there twice (disregarding quite ugly interior).

Where to stay: Mercure Bergamo. Great location (close to the train station), a very comfortable, spacious room and bathroom, nice design, great staff and good breakfast.
