Things to do in Turkey: Cruising the Dalyan river

Turkey is a country with plenty to offer. Huge and vibrant cities such as Istanbul or Ankara, numerous welcoming resorts (Antalya and Marmaris are just an example), not to mention absolutely breathtaking Cappadocia and Pamukkale thermal pools. Going on a cruise on a... river perhaps doesn't sound like the most tempting option, but it might in fact be an unforgettable experience, especially when the river and its surroundings are truly beautiful.

I admit there were few rivers that surprised me but Dalyan was definitely one of them. With every passing minute its wide channel kept uncovering some hidden treasures along the way. One moment we saw high mountains contrasting with the turquoise of the water, the other – little local restaurants tucked onto the shore and small harbours welcoming colourful boats. Or tiny luxurious hotels in the middle of nowhere with their empty sunbeds almost touching the sparkling surface of the river. And it was just a few minutes before we saw some breathtaking carvings of ancient tombs in rock walls right below the sky. Boring? I don't think so!
